The Amazon reviews are pretty funny, but I think you'll find the following hysterical! http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/340987215Mammywitchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14786563316781539135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6919211006965906868.post-7867554156151768042013-01-28T01:40:51.901+10:302013-01-28T01:40:51.901+10:30Well, slap my ass, and call me Sally. I haven't read it, and have several female friends who know I have a taste for erotic literature, so they said I HAVE to read 50 Shades. I have dug my heels in and resisted just because things that are so over-hyped are normally not even worth the time it takes to read them. I had lots of friends tell me I just had to read the Twilight series. I ordered a sample off Amazon, and was appalled. THIS is what everyone is raving over?! Crap, utter crap. Sigh. Seems you've inspired my own rant, but suffice to say, I agree. I agree about the way feminine characters are portrayed and the disturbing turn that roles models have taken. I shudder to think how this is shaping the future feminine generation. Obviously, TV shouldn't shape a young woman's mind, but who are we kidding...it has a big impact on young minds. Personally, the mental image of Buffy smacking the crap out of Bella makes me smile. A lot.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6919211006965906868.post-35164830280475071172013-01-28T00:17:42.219+10:302013-01-28T00:17:42.219+10:30I AM an avid Reader as well and my hubby asked me ...I AM an avid Reader as well and my hubby asked me if I was interested in reading the books because he would buy them for me, but when I told him what it was all about he was glad that I wasn't interested.
It is sad that ill-written books like these seem to be best sellers and I do agree with your comment about the people who don't read very much finding it titillating.
I do think it is scary for young women these days who read these types of books and believe that it is normal, they are lowering their standards just to please or keep their man. I also feel that some men think that to keep a woman they have to treat them like shit so they gain their spouses respect...
With all the information that is given these days through the media and internet, people are still prone to fall for the most inane rubbish out there... very sad that they can't see through it!!
I have never seen the twilight movies or read the books either - I'm not impressed my sparkly vampires!!
The WORLD needs to wake up...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6919211006965906868.post-37264162236352382722013-01-27T16:39:31.496+10:302013-01-27T16:39:31.496+10:30My husband wanted to buy me 50 Shades of Crap beca...My husband wanted to buy me 50 Shades of Crap because he heard that all the women love it. I told him "don't you dare spend a penny on that garbage". He thought I was strange. It makes me sick that they are making a movie out of this. People need to give their heads a shake.Kamyriahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00856184455026650598noreply@blogger.com
